From the Upper West Side of Manhattan to around the country and world, our goal is to take adventures and build life skills.

Based on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, Troop 1 includes a Cub Pack (boys and girls), Troop 1 (boys) and Troop 1G (girls). Founded in 1929, our troop has decades of tradition and is proud to focus on teamwork, emergency preparedness, camaraderie, citizenship, and leadership while taking adventurous trips in the New York area and beyond..
We meet throughout the school year on Thursdays evenings at Holy Name Church Community Center at 214 West 97th Street, between Amsterdam and Broadway. Cubs meet from 7-8pm and Scouts meet from 7-8:30pm.
We welcome children, adolescents, and their families (of every race, creed, and national origin, and orientation) to join us. At Troop One, our goal is having our scouts achieve the BSA ideal of becoming contributing citizens, individuals of good character, and examples in their community of sound personal and moral fitness.

Troop 1 stays active with events in New York City and monthly camping trips throughout the school year. During the summer, we take the troop to summer camp and high adventure trips such as Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico. Our troop has also made trips to scout reservations in Catalina Island off California; the Rocky Mountains in Colorado; the Catskills and Adirondacks in New York; Kandersteg International Scout Centre in Switzerland; and Cub World in Alpine, New Jersey.
Troop 1 Motto:
There is no substitute for excellence!

Why Scouting?
Scouting America (formerly Boy Scouts of America) is one of the nation’s largest and most prominent values-based youth development organizations. Scouting America provides a program for young people that builds character, trains them in the responsibilities of citizenship, and develops personal fitness and leadership skills.
For over a century, the Scouting America / BSA has helped build the future leaders of this country by combining educational activities and lifelong values with fun. Scouting America believes that helping youth is a key to building a more conscientious, responsible, and productive society. For more information, please visit scouting.org.
